Embedded Software & QA Engineer – e‑Bike Systems (80–100%)

Specialized Switzerland Retail GmbH seeks an Embedded Software & QA Engineer in Cham to develop and validate next-generation e-bike systems, covering firmware, HMI, and robust testing across the full product lifecycle.

This position sits within the e-Bike Systems Engineering team in Cham, Switzerland. The engineer will help build and verify advanced e-bike platforms, emphasizing human-machine interface design, firmware reliability, and thorough system testing. The scope spans from initial prototyping through support for mass production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build embedded HMI firmware for upcoming e-bike platforms.
  • Build and upkeep communication protocols linking system components, internal utilities, and rider apps.
  • Oversee the primary firmware codebase alongside internal development groups.
  • Produce and update clear technical and design documentation.
  • Establish and carry out software verification strategies, including unit, integration, regression, and functional checks.
  • Write automated test scripts and frameworks using Python, hardware-in-the-loop configurations, and CI pipelines to boost coverage and speed.
  • Perform bench and system-level validation, including HIL setups for protocols like CAN, BLE, and ANT+.
  • Apply static analysis, CI tools, and code metrics to uphold firmware quality benchmarks.
  • Spearhead root cause investigations for defects found during testing, manufacturing, or field use, and implement lasting fixes.
  • Partner with Systems, Hardware, App, and Quality groups to guarantee solid end-to-end performance.
  • Keep detailed test records, reports, and requirement traceability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated background in writing and debugging embedded software, including drivers, modules, and applications.
  • Solid hands-on knowledge of software testing methods such as unit, integration, regression, and black-box/white-box testing.
  • Practical familiarity with Zephyr OS, Git, Make, CMake, C, and Python.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, static analysis tools, and automated test environments.
  • Comfortable using Jira, SharePoint, and similar collaboration platforms.
  • Able to thrive in a rapid, cross-functional setting.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of CAN bus, BLE, and ANT+ protocols is highly valued.
  • Background in PCB analysis, HIL test configurations, or embedded test frameworks is beneficial.
