Senior Automation QA Engineer – Mobile Testing

Specialized Switzerland Retail GmbH seeks a Senior Automation QA Engineer to lead mobile testing strategies, mentor engineers, and ensure quality for e-bike rider apps across Android and iOS.

The SBC App Team within Specialized Global Tech develops mobile applications designed to improve the rider experience for e-bikes. This position focuses on defining testing approaches, guiding fellow QA professionals, and maintaining high standards across mobile platforms, ideally leveraging background in cycling, IoT, or connected devices.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute thorough mobile testing strategies, frameworks, and workflows.
• Oversee QA activities for various mobile projects to guarantee quality and consistent coverage.
• Evaluate app requirements, architecture, and design to improve testability and guide product decisions.
• Coach junior and mid-level QA staff, promoting skill growth and sharing industry best practices.
• Build, run, and maintain automated and manual test cases for Android and iOS using Katalon and Appium.
• Conduct functional, regression, integration, smoke, performance, and stress testing on physical devices and emulators.
• Partner with developers, UX/UI designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to boost product quality.
• Spot test coverage gaps and implement enhancements to QA processes and tools.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing with business users and manage feedback loops.
• Deliver clear reports on test outcomes, risks, and recommendations to leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years in software quality assurance and testing.
• 5+ years in mobile application testing (iOS and Android).
• Proven track record of leading automation QA initiatives for large-scale, consumer-facing mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio and Appium for advanced test automation.
• Expertise in mobile QA methodologies, testing tools, and test environment management.
• Experience with Xcode, Android Studio, device/emulator-based testing, and connected hardware (Bluetooth, sensors, OTA updates).
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, React-based mobile applications, and hardware/software integrations.
• Experience setting up and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into release processes (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable test frameworks and reusable test assets.
• Excellent communication skills with a track record of influencing product direction and technical decision-making.
• Experience with Atlassian Confluence, JIRA, and agile methodologies.

Nice to have

• Leading mobile performance, scalability, and security testing initiatives.
• Hands-on experience with additional mobile automation frameworks (Espresso, XCTest, etc.).
• Experience in IoT or connected hardware product testing.
