Emissions Compliance Expert (m/f/d)

WinGD seeks a Mid-level Emissions Compliance Expert in Winterthur, CH, to develop regulatory documentation and support emissions standards strategy. The role requires engineering expertise, regulatory understanding, and collaboration with industry and regulators.

This position focuses on creating compliance processes and documentation for regulatory requirements, supporting the Senior Expert Regulatory Affairs in shaping WinGD’s stance on emissions standards, and ensuring regulatory considerations are integrated into engine development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document procedures to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements for both initial and long-term operations.
  • Develop certification requirements and extended documentation based on updates to MARPOL Annex VI.
  • Define certification needs for products under other regulations, including EPA and country-specific rules for stationary engines.
  • Lead investigations to establish reference emission levels for existing engine technologies.
  • Assess the emissions reduction potential of new technologies.
  • Integrate regulatory requirements into engine tuning and development processes.
  • Assist the Senior Expert Regulatory Affairs in defining WinGD’s position on evolving emissions standards.
  • Coordinate with industry partners to align on common regulatory positions.
  • Represent WinGD and industry interests in discussions with regulatory bodies like the IMO.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and networking abilities.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Structured and organized approach to tasks.
  • Clear understanding of how regulatory texts affect technology and vice versa.
  • Solid grasp of engine performance and emissions, including combustion fundamentals and design-to-emissions relationships.
  • Familiarity with large two-stroke engine technology and development tools.
  • Understanding of regulatory processes and ability to interpret or draft regulatory content.
  • At least three years of experience in product development or engineering.
  • MSc in Engineering or equivalent qualification.

  • Prior experience in regulatory affairs management.
