Syngenta Group seeks an EMSR / Electrical Engineer in Muttenz, CH, to lead electrical and instrumentation projects, set technical standards, and ensure operational safety within a global agrochemical environment.
The company is looking for a mid-to-senior level engineer to serve as the primary technical authority for Electrical, Mechanical, Safety, and Reliability Technology (EMSR) within its local engineering team. This role focuses on defining standards for capital projects, providing design guidance, and maintaining the integrity of electrical and instrumentation systems across the site.
Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining technical standards for electrical and pneumatic instrumentation and sensors.
- Offering design and installation guidance for local engineering teams and capital expenditure (Capex) initiatives.
- Defining, specifying, and overseeing the application of engineering standards throughout the design, procurement, and construction phases.
- Managing and executing smaller Capex and operational expenditure (Opex) projects on-site.
- Serving as the central technical expert for EMSR installations.
- Assessing the condition of existing equipment and infrastructure.
- Developing scope and cost requirements for electrical installations within Capex projects.
- Overseeing and approving the release of installation works.
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and system errors.
Requirements
- A completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with DeltaV and Siemens control systems.
- Proven experience in managing small-scale projects.
- Several years of professional experience within an industrial setting.
- Solid grasp of maintenance principles and change management processes.
- Knowledge of operational Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and compliance requirements for Capex investments.
- Fluent proficiency in German.
- Conversational level of English.
- Willingness to operate within a chemical production environment.
Nice to have
- Project management background in the agrochemical, pharmaceutical, chemical, or process industries.
- Experience leading external resources or contractors.
- Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware.
- Knowledge of fieldbus systems and industrial networks, including Profibus, HART, and Foundation Fieldbus.
- Experience with COMOS software.
