Abbott seeks a Global Medical Manager for Women’s Health in Basel. This senior role leads medical affairs strategy, KOL engagement, and cross-functional collaboration for global product portfolios.
Positioned within the Established Pharmaceuticals Division, this global position supports the Women’s Health team by partnering with regional medical groups, Innovation & Development, and Global Marketing. The incumbent reports directly to the Global Medical Director of Women’s Health and drives strategic medical initiatives across international markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic medical affairs projects and daily activities for the Women’s Health portfolio.
- Assist the Global Medical Director in reviewing, approving, and overseeing global and regional clinical studies and scientific publications.
- Coordinate pre-launch activities for cross-regional products alongside Global and Regional Marketing teams.
- Manage Key Opinion Leader (KOL) identification projects, maintain the KOL database, and spot potential global thought leaders.
- Maintain global brand scientific integrity by participating in product safety and labeling meetings, drafting scientific documents, and updating the product scientific library.
- Partner with marketing to develop promotional materials, ensuring all content is scientifically accurate.
- Update and upgrade the scientific sections of registration dossiers to meet regulatory standards for geo-expansion.
- Perform medical assessments for new licensing and acquisition opportunities to support portfolio growth.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or PhD in life sciences, with prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry in regional or global roles.
- Minimum of five years of experience managing comparable products with regional or global scope.
- Proven ability to operate and collaborate across international, cross-functional global teams.
- Strong project management capabilities spanning multiple functional areas.
- Capacity to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking.
- Excellent organizational skills, adaptable communication styles, and comfort in fast-paced, changing environments.
- Fluency in English is mandatory.
Nice to have
- Background in clinical research is advantageous.
- Prior international exposure, particularly in emerging markets, is preferred.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a bonus.
