Global Medical Network Leader, Ophthalmology

Roche seeks a Senior Global Medical Network Leader for Ophthalmology in Basel. This role bridges global strategy with local affiliate execution, ensuring medical excellence and strategic alignment across the disease area.

This position acts as a critical strategic bridge between Roche’s global vision and its country-level operations. The leader drives the implementation of medical strategies while ensuring that local affiliate perspectives significantly influence global decision-making processes within the Ophthalmology division.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary representative for affiliate interests within the Ophthalmology Disease Area to shape global team strategies.
• Partner strategically with internal teams to design, drive, and support medical engagement activities and strategy execution.
• Provide expert advice on strategic planning throughout the disease area lifecycle, with a focus on enhancing experiences for healthcare professionals and patients.
• Prepare internal medical and commercial teams for successful product launches.
• Oversee the entire portfolio lifecycle, from accelerating pipeline development to managing commercialization efforts.
• Navigate cross-functional matrix challenges by aligning global goals with specific local healthcare system requirements.
• Achieve certification on relevant Roche platforms and create training materials or support documentation to foster operational excellence.

Requirements

• Hold an advanced scientific degree, such as an MD, PhD, PharmD, or MSc.
• Demonstrate deep scientific expertise in the field of Ophthalmology.
• Possess a minimum of five years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Have prior experience in medical leadership roles at a regional or country level.
• Be fully proficient in both written and spoken English.
