Roche seeks two Global Medical Science Leaders in Ophthalmology (Basel) to drive medical strategy and evidence generation for its expanding global medical affairs team.
The company is expanding its global medical affairs team in Ophthalmology with two new openings. This group focuses on understanding and shaping the future of medical practice within the disease area. The position acts as a central medical and clinical expert, leading the medical strategy components that feed into the broader integrated product strategies.
Responsibilities
- Direct and align medical strategy inputs with the overall product lifecycle and integrated plans.
- Create and implement strategies for generating evidence, ensuring clinical data meets access requirements.
- Oversee the unified evidence strategy, linking Clinical Development Plans with market access data needs.
- Partner closely with teams in Scientific Communication, Patient Partnership, Marketing, and Drug Development.
- Stay informed on external shifts such as Digital Health, personalized medicine, and ecosystem-focused care.
- Act as the medical authority in clinical research and practice to help transform the ophthalmology landscape.
- Incorporate insights from healthcare professionals, patients, nurses, and payers into strategic decisions.
Requirements
- An MD with experience in clinical research or patient care decision-making, or an advanced life-science degree (such as a PhD or PharmD) with a suitable background.
- Demonstrated success working within a matrix structure alongside diverse cross-functional colleagues.
- Solid grasp of the Integrated Development and Commercialization Planning process.
- Deep expertise in evidence generation and the capacity to turn complex medical data into clear strategic actions.
Nice to have
- Specialized degree and hands-on experience specifically within the field of Ophthalmology.
