Novartis seeks a Director to lead global medical affairs strategy for oncology, driving scientific leadership and evidence generation to improve patient outcomes.
This position provides scientific leadership across the entire oncology product lifecycle. The role integrates medical strategy into early portfolio decisions and strengthens the global medical voice during late-stage development. The incumbent will build trusted partnerships within the oncology ecosystem to enhance patient care.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute an integrated global medical affairs strategy for oncology products.
- Provide expert medical input to shape early portfolio strategy and development programmes.
- Maintain a consistent global medical voice within programme governance structures.
- Create and implement integrated plans for evidence generation.
- Manage the design, approval, and execution of global medical affairs studies.
- Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with healthcare professionals and external stakeholders.
- Lead medical communications and scientific engagement initiatives.
- Inspire, manage, and develop a high-performing global team.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) qualification.
- Over 10 years of experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or clinical practice.
- Proven track record of leading global teams.
- Direct experience in the oncology therapeutic area.
- Deep expertise in evidence generation, including clinical trials and real-world evidence studies.
- Demonstrated ability to shape and influence global medical strategy across the product lifecycle.
- Excellent collaboration and influencing skills within complex, matrixed global organizations.
- Strong understanding of ethics, compliance, and governance requirements in medical affairs.
