International Medical Affairs Director, Neuroscience

Novartis seeks an International Medical Affairs Director for Neuroscience to lead launch strategies, evidence generation, and field medical initiatives across key international markets.

This position supports the International Medical Affairs team by representing the voice of international markets, with a specific focus on top-priority regions. The role covers the entire product lifecycle, from pre-launch preparations through launch execution and ongoing life-cycle management, while reporting directly to the Executive Director of International Medical Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the medical affairs launch strategy for Neuroscience programs in priority international countries, incorporating innovative partnership models.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs teams in key international regions to align on delivery and address local market needs.
  • Advise on evidence generation plans, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) strategies, medical education, scientific publications, and Medical Expert network development.
  • Shape and contribute to innovative education and scientific communication plans for external stakeholders at the international level.
  • Track financial metrics to ensure medical activities are developed and executed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Represent International Medical Affairs to internal and external audiences, including commercial teams, investment, medical, regulatory communities, and industry partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of reimbursement and market-access strategies.
  • Develop and execute Field Medical plans, including insight gathering, training on disease areas and medical knowledge, and MSL deployment guidance.
  • Provide proactive medical input to asset lifecycle management to identify new therapeutic opportunities and ensure compliant delivery of Patient Access programs.
  • Ensure all International Medical Affairs activities comply with company policy guidelines and maintain the highest standards of medical quality.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) in Health or Life Sciences.
  • At least 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven experience in medical affairs pre-launch and launch activities in a major international market.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in matrix organizations and lead cross-functional medical projects, influencing and collaborating across functions and geographies.
  • Strong track record of leading complex medical affairs initiatives with clear impact on timelines, quality, and strategic outcomes.
  • Full professional fluency in English.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in the Neuroscience therapeutic area.
