Medical Director (MD), Multiple Sclerosis

Roche seeks a Medical Director for Multiple Sclerosis in Basel to lead Phase II–III clinical strategies within the Neuroimmunology team. This individual contributor role requires an MD with neurology experience.

Positioned within the Clinical Development organization’s Neuroimmunology team, this role drives late-stage clinical strategies for Multiple Sclerosis. The position serves as a junior to mid-level individual contributor, focusing on scientific leadership and study execution without people management duties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Clinical Development Plans by synthesizing data to align with long-term lifecycle goals.
  • Design and oversee Phase II and III trials, coordinating with cross-functional groups on analytics, data management, and safety.
  • Serve as a medical monitor to ensure accurate interpretation of scientific and medical data from assigned studies.
  • Maintain deep expertise in MS and Neuroimmunology to support regulatory filings, briefing packages, and labeling.
  • Engage with Health Authorities and build relationships with investigators, Key Opinion Leaders, and internal partners.
  • Provide clinical expertise during regulatory interactions and submissions.

Requirements

  • M.D. degree with clinical experience as a Neurologist.
  • Specialized background or training in treating Multiple Sclerosis patients.
  • Proven experience in designing and conducting clinical trials.
  • Strong grasp of Phase II–III drug development processes.
  • Working knowledge of GCP, ICH, FDA, and EMA guidelines.

Nice to have

  • Academic or teaching background, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Over two years of industry experience in MS clinical development.
  • Recognition as an MS field expert, such as holding an Assistant Professor position.
  • Familiarity with GCP, ICH, FDA, and EMA guidelines (particularly for entry-level candidates).
