Roche seeks a Medical Director for Multiple Sclerosis in Basel to lead early-stage clinical projects within its pRED Neuroscience & Rare Diseases team.
This position operates within Roche's Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED) division, concentrating on Neuroscience and Rare Diseases with a specific emphasis on multiple sclerosis. The incumbent will guide or assist early-stage clinical initiatives, spanning from initial human entry through proof of mechanism and concept validation.
Responsibilities
- Direct or assist cross-functional groups in creating and carrying out clinical development strategies from Phase 1 to Phase 2 proof-of-concept.
- Mentor Clinical Scientists holding line or functional manager positions.
- Collaborate with project leads and specialists in safety, clinical pharmacology, operations, biostatistics, regulatory affairs, research, and biomarkers.
- Manage or support internal stakeholder coordination and governance discussions regarding project plans and therapeutic strategies.
- Handle or facilitate external interactions with advisory boards, site investigators, health authorities, and other vital parties.
- Contribute clinical expertise to discovery research programs.
- Oversee scientific communications and share clinical trial outcomes via conference presentations and journal publications.
Requirements
- MD or MD/PhD degree with specialization in neuroimmunology, multiple sclerosis, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years in longitudinal clinical research, with preference for drug development or clinical trial experience.
- Demonstrated scientific excellence, shown through significant success in designing and executing clinical trials or high-level scholarship in industry or academia.
- Background in clinical drug development, particularly in early-stage phases.
- Capacity to thrive in a matrix setting, influencing and inspiring colleagues to pursue excellence.
