Vice President, Global Head Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology

Roche seeks a Vice President to lead global clinical development strategy for Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology, requiring extensive experience in neurology and team leadership.

This position acts as the top expert for Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology within the PDC, holding final responsibility for the disease area’s clinical development strategy. The role functions as a key connector across Roche Group Research, Diagnostics, Partnering, Technical Operations, and Global Pharma Strategy.

Responsibilities

• Establish and direct the strategic vision and clinical development plans for late-stage Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology programs.
• Provide strong leadership to the PDC Clinical Science team to ensure successful execution of the defined strategy.
• Oversee the full lifecycle implementation of comprehensive clinical development strategies.
• Guide the development of portfolio assets and associated teams from early to late stages.
• Act as the main contact for business development initiatives within this disease area.
• Build and lead a dedicated Disease Area team comprising leaders from across the Roche Group.
• Represent late-stage development interests and contribute to broader portfolio strategy discussions with internal and external partners.
• Define asset strategies, clinical development plans, and target product profiles in collaboration with cross-functional drug development teams.
• Participate in development and business boards, serving as PD co-chair to offer strategic reviews and go/no-go recommendations.
• Manage, advise, and support Global Development Leaders while overseeing clinical activities in the assigned disease area.
• Oversee, manage, and prioritize molecule enabling activities.
• Foster talent growth within the team and advise on career development for potential successors.

Requirements

• MD or MD/PhD degree with board certification or eligibility in neurology.
• At least 10 years of experience in clinical development.
• Demonstrated leadership in the relevant disease area, including 5+ years in a clinical development leadership role within the biopharmaceutical industry or a strong academic background.
• Proven ability to manage, lead, and develop people, including mentoring and coaching for career growth.

Nice to have

• Experience with global regulatory submissions (IND, BLA, NDA) and active participation in meetings with Health Authorities.
• Direct management of multiple direct reports for at least 5 years.
• Experience in evaluating external innovation in collaboration with business development colleagues.
• Proven track record of managing global clinical development teams.
