GSK Switzerland seeks a Senior Medical Director for GU Oncology Clinical Development in Baar. This senior role leads clinical trials, strategy, and regulatory efforts for genitourinary cancer therapies.

Reporting to the Executive Medical Director for Clinical Development, this position drives the clinical research agenda for GSK’s oncology portfolio. The incumbent is tasked with advancing the development of new therapies through the design and execution of clinical trials, ensuring successful regulatory filings and market launch for genitourinary (GU) indications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage Phase 1 through Phase 3 interventional clinical trials within a complex organizational structure.
  • Provide clinical leadership on disease area strategy, integrated evidence generation, and medical affairs planning.
  • Create and oversee high-quality clinical protocols that align with the broader Clinical Development Plan.
  • Maintain scientific integrity and ensure trials are delivered on time to support regulatory approval strategies.
  • Analyze and summarize study data to define safety profiles, efficacy, pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic outcomes, and patient-reported metrics.
  • Serve as the medical lead for clinical studies, including real-time medical monitoring and oversight.
  • Collaborate with pharmacovigilance teams to review and monitor safety data for active studies.
  • Author clinical study reports and other regulatory documentation.
  • Work with Principal Investigators to evaluate and assess publications related to clinical data.
  • Contribute to the clinical and technical due diligence for business development opportunities.
  • Represent the company at medical conferences, advisory boards, and outreach events.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and workstreams across the Oncology Clinical Development division.

Requirements

  • Medical degree with advanced specialty training, fellowship, or equivalent higher-level qualification in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Urology, or Internal Medicine.
  • Proven experience in the global pharmaceutical or biotechnology sector, specifically within genitourinary (GU) prostate cancer.
  • Track record of leading GU Oncology drug development, including the design, initiation, execution, and closure of Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials.
  • History of academic or clinical research publications, or extensive medical practice experience in GU Oncology.

  • PhD in addition to the required medical degree and specialty training.
  • Strong professional relationships with key external experts in medical oncology and established credibility within the medical community.
  • Experience in assessing business development opportunities to expand the clinical portfolio.
  • Deep knowledge of global regulatory and safety requirements for drug development, research, and market support.
  • Comprehensive understanding of disease-specific research priorities, public health needs, competitor landscapes, and evolving treatment guidelines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills tailored to senior stakeholders and target audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to make high-quality decisions and resolve complex problems in critical situations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for registration, including adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
