Director, Medical Affairs

Gilead Sciences Switzerland seeks a Director of Medical Affairs in Zug to lead country medical strategy, manage a team, and ensure scientific excellence across therapeutic areas.

This position serves as the Country Medical Director, combining office-based leadership with field activities. The role is responsible for overseeing the strategic medical affairs plan, leading a team of medical professionals, and serving as a key member of the Country Leadership team while reporting to the Executive Midsize Markets Medical Director.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute the Medical Affairs strategic plan for the country.
• Build and sustain scientific relationships with key opinion leaders and therapeutic area experts.
• Facilitate the integration of scientific data into clinical decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with local experts to identify opportunities for local data generation.
• Support pipeline initiatives and coordinate with Clinical Operations.
• Conduct one-on-one scientific discussions with healthcare providers.
• Handle medical information requests regarding both marketed and developmental products.
• Collect and share insights derived from field interactions.
• Assist in managing physician-driven compassionate use or early access requests.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of the medical plan of action.
• Mentor the team to enhance their professional competencies and capabilities.
• Review and approve medical content for educational events and promotional materials.
• Support the generation of local clinical data through trials and studies.
• Provide scientific input for Health Technology Assessment dossiers and payer negotiations.
• Design and implement medical education events.
• Analyze trial data and provide interpretations to marketing and sales teams.

Requirements

• A degree in Medicine is mandatory.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly within a country affiliate setting.
• Demonstrated history of managing people effectively.
• Business fluency in English and at least one local language.

• Prior experience within the specific therapeutic area of interest.
