Senior Medical Director, Nephrology, Global Medical Affairs

Biogen (Switzerland) seeks a Senior Medical Director for Nephrology in Baar, CH. This full-time role leads global medical strategy and launch planning for Glomerular Nephritis programs.

The company is looking for a strategic partner to provide expert medical leadership for its Nephrology investigational products. This position is medically accountable for developing and implementing the Global Medical Strategy and serves as a key support for launch planning and clinical development. The role reports directly to the Global Medical Head of Nephrology & Transplant.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key nephrology medical experts and healthcare providers to gather insights.
  • Create and execute cross-functional medical strategies that support clinical development and launch activities.
  • Direct high-impact medical initiatives, including advisory boards, medical education, research projects, and key medical expert engagement.
  • Collaborate with clinical development and operations teams to enhance site engagement during clinical programs.
  • Lead the creation of evidence generation strategies, including investigator-initiated research and phase 4 studies.
  • Work with scientific communications teams to develop and execute publication plans.
  • Identify and foster collaborations with external stakeholders, including healthcare organizations and patient advocacy groups.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in medicine (MD), pharmacy (PharmD), or a PhD.
  • At least eight years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a global medical affairs role based at headquarters.
  • Proven expertise in developing, communicating, and executing comprehensive global medical affairs plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with global, regional, and affiliate medical teams.
  • Capacity to work independently and advance key projects with minimal oversight.
  • Strong understanding of non-US regulations relevant to medical affairs.
  • Willingness to travel between 30% and 40% of the time.

  • Strong project management skills with the initiative to solve complex problems.
