Graduate Software Engineer (Digital Assets)

IMC seeks a Graduate Software Engineer in Zug to build low-latency trading systems and data pipelines. This onsite internship offers hands-on impact within a collaborative engineering team.

The company is looking for a graduate engineer to join its core development group, focusing on proprietary low-latency trading infrastructure. The position centers on ingesting market data, constructing ETL workflows, and partnering closely with traders and researchers to ensure high-performance data delivery.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and optimize internal data infrastructure supporting market and trading platforms.
• Develop scalable data pipelines to handle information from various exchanges and new business areas.
• Work alongside software developers, quantitative researchers, and traders to provide efficient data solutions.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Enhance the performance, reliability, scalability, and observability of distributed data processing systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one statically typed language such as Java, Scala, Go, C++, or Rust.
• Hands-on experience with Python data analysis tools like Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, NumPy, or distributed DataFrame frameworks.
• Strong foundation in computer science principles, including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, networking, and software architecture.
• A performance-driven mindset with an interest in scalable distributed systems, latency, throughput, and fault tolerance.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with modern data engineering and data lake technologies such as Spark, Flink, Iceberg, ClickHouse, Kafka, Airflow, or Dagster.
• Experience with modern infrastructure tools including Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, GitOps, and observability platforms.
