Head ICT Operations 80-100% (m/w/d)

Büchi AG seeks an Executive to lead global IT operations, managing infrastructure, security, and a distributed team while collaborating with senior leadership.

This executive position holds full accountability for the worldwide IT infrastructure and service delivery. The role focuses on maintaining secure, high-performance systems across all sites, guiding a distributed operations team, and aligning technical strategies with business goals through close partnership with the CTO and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of global IT services, covering the service desk, core platforms, physical hardware, and user support.
• Maintain reliable, secure, and efficient IT services at every operational site.
• Guide and grow a geographically dispersed IT Operations team, supervising several team leads.
• Administer the worldwide service framework (L1–L3) and drive ongoing process enhancements.
• Take charge of essential systems like Azure, AWS, digital workspaces, identity solutions, and network connectivity.
• Lead security and compliance efforts, including vulnerability tracking and incident handling.
• Coordinate with external vendors, service providers, and licensing arrangements, including financial operations (FinOps).
• Control the IT Operations budget, track KPIs, and report performance metrics to senior management.
• Facilitate the handover of projects into steady-state operations.
• Partner with the CTO, key business leaders, and international groups to align IT with company objectives.

Requirements

• Over a decade in IT, with multiple years directing global IT operations or infrastructure teams.
• Proven experience managing a global service desk and complex multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
• Background in operating customer-facing or product-related platforms (e.g., SaaS, IoT, connected products).
• Solid service management expertise (e.g., ITIL) with the ability to transition operations toward modern, DevOps-driven approaches.
• Practical knowledge in identity management (Microsoft Entra ID), endpoint management, networking/SD-WAN, security operations, and observability.
• Experience in managing strategic vendors and contracts at scale.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of bridging executive business language and technical details.
• Fluent English is required; German proficiency is a strong advantage.
