Rothschild & Co seeks a Senior Head of Strategic Investment Management in Zurich to advise high-net-worth clients on bespoke wealth portfolio solutions and strategic asset allocation.
Positioned within the Wealth Management division, this role supports institutional clients, family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals by crafting comprehensive wealth strategies. The position centers on diagnosing total wealth structures, determining strategic asset allocations, and designing holistic mandates that address complex client needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed asset-liability and total wealth analyses at an institutional level.
- Evaluate intricate portfolios spanning both liquid and illiquid asset classes.
- Assess specific client constraints such as tax implications, governance structures, liquidity requirements, succession planning, and investment timeframes.
- Create thorough current-state assessments to pinpoint concentration risks, mismatches, and operational inefficiencies.
- Construct customized strategic asset allocation models and future-state mandates for diverse investment vehicles.
- Utilize advanced portfolio construction techniques, including risk metrics and illiquidity dynamics.
- Collaborate with internal investment experts to execute implementation plans and phased deployment strategies.
- Present high-value investment proposals, translating complex allocation frameworks into accessible narratives.
- Defend investment strategies and risk-modeling assumptions before sophisticated investment committees.
- Work alongside Senior Relationship Managers to acquire new clients, manage onboarding, and grow existing relationships.
Requirements
- 10 to 15 years of experience in private banking, family offices, or institutional asset management.
- Proven expertise in constructing portfolios and managing asset allocation for ultra-high-net-worth or institutional clients.
- Comprehensive knowledge of public markets and private assets, including private equity, debt, infrastructure, and real estate.
- Strong quantitative abilities, including proficiency in Sharpe ratios, illiquidity premiums, correlation analysis, and cash-flow modeling.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to simplify complex financial concepts.
- Advanced analytical skills and hands-on experience with portfolio optimization software.
- Solid grasp of the Swiss regulatory landscape, specifically FinSA and FinIA, along with cross-border investment complexities.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Native-level or fully professional fluency in English.

- CFA, CAIA, or CFP certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in German and/or French is highly desirable.
