Roche seeks a Mid-level In Vivo Laboratory Specialist in Basel to conduct preclinical rodent studies, manage imaging technologies, and support pharmaceutical research initiatives.

This position sits within the In Vivo Sciences team under Pharmaceutical Sciences, where the specialist executes internal preclinical research. The role acts as a core technical partner, delivering essential data and infrastructure for ongoing projects. It is tailored for a technically skilled professional who enjoys laboratory-based scientific work and aims for a long-term career in this field.

Responsibilities

  • Execute in vivo pharmacology, PK/PD, and safety assessments using rodents and rabbits.
  • Administer compounds through multiple routes, including IV, IP, SC, PO, and specialized intracranial or intravitreal injections.
  • Compile experimental data and contribute to the preparation of detailed study reports.
  • Set up, validate, and refine advanced in vivo imaging systems and digital tools.
  • Develop automated workflows and apply innovative methods to improve research quality.
  • Carry out complex surgical procedures such as cannulation, catheterization, and stereotaxic operations.
  • Provide high-quality perioperative care and perform precise necropsies, tissue collection, and in-life sampling.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to apply the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in daily workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with pRED colleagues, making agile decisions and adapting to protocol changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in in vivo experimentation, such as in pharmacology or neuroscience.
  • Possession of a valid Swiss certification for animal experiments (LTK1 or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated expertise in rodent dosing and multi-modal sampling techniques (e.g., blood, CSF, tissues).
  • Candidates with a PhD degree will not be considered for this role.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in the German language is advantageous.
