In Vitro Bioanalysis Scientist

Roche seeks a Senior In Vitro Bioanalysis Scientist in Basel to lead bioanalytical method development and data analysis for drug discovery, driving candidate selection through high-quality in vitro data.

This role functions as a technical specialist within the ADME chapter of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The position exists to advance the discovery portfolio by delivering reliable, actionable in vitro bioanalytical results that guide the selection of drug candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Create and validate reliable bioanalytical techniques using HPLC and mass spectrometry systems, including triple quad (Sciex) or high-resolution instruments like Orbitrap/Thermo.
  • Manage the quantification and detailed analysis of data for various compound types, such as small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides.
  • Design and deploy automation and digitalization projects to improve laboratory data flow and experimental execution.
  • Regularly assess and refine the bioanalytical strategy to boost sample throughput and minimize time spent on manual data analysis.
  • Offer specialized technical support for quantifying large molecules as needed by the pRED discovery pipeline.
  • Collaborate with the ADME team to interpret bioanalytical findings and guide project advancement.
  • Apply a Creative Mindset and VACC principles (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) in all professional interactions, even when working independently.

Requirements

  • Hold an MSc or PhD in bioanalysis, biochemistry, or a related field, along with hands-on experience, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Take complete responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of in vitro bioanalytical data for discovery projects.
  • Have the authority to permanently improve laboratory processes to meet changing quality and efficiency standards.
  • Serve as the main technical contact for internal stakeholders, using strong communication and collaboration skills to align on project needs.
  • Use economic and entrepreneurial thinking to prioritize tasks and manage laboratory resources effectively within the ADME department.
