Novartis seeks a mid-level In-vivo Research Scientist in Basel, Switzerland, for a full-time onsite role. The position requires a BSc and in-vivo lab technician training, with 2+ years of rodent research experience, strong data documentation, and fluency in English. This position is part of Novartis’ Comparative Medicines group and supports multi-disciplinary research programs by delivering high-quality in-vivo technical and scientific assistance. It offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful biomedical research aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Carry out advanced animal experiments with rodents (mice, rats) following ethical and technical best practices, including handling, dosing, clinical monitoring, and tissue sampling.
- Analyze experimental data with minimal supervision.
- Perform duties outside regular hours, such as weekend work, early morning, or late evening tasks including dosing and bleeding.
- Collaborate independently with research scientists.
- Review and update experimental protocols as needed.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with in-vivo techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, plus completed training as an in-vivo laboratory technician (LTK 1 or equivalent).
- Minimum of two years of hands-on experience conducting in-vivo studies with rodents in academic or industrial settings.
- Strong ability to calculate compound doses and volumes accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous data documentation.
- Dedicated to animal welfare, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a team.
- Fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of French and/or German is beneficial.
- Prior experience in pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic, or tolerability studies is advantageous.
