Internship - Humanoid Motion Generation (Diffusion or Flow Matching)

Flexion Robotics in Zürich is seeking an intern to work on humanoid motion generation using generative models like diffusion or flow matching. The role involves developing whole-body trajectories for robots, integrating with 3D environment perception, and contributing to foundational software development.

This internship focuses on advancing how humanoid robots perceive and interact with their surroundings, working at the intersection of generative motion planning and 3D environment understanding. The intern will contribute to foundational software development while learning from a top-tier team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

• Develop generative models for whole-body robot trajectories using diffusion, flow matching, or auto-regressive approaches.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with diffusion models, flow matching, or learning-based trajectory generation, supported by relevant project work.
• Understanding of generative modeling applied to time series data.
• Strong Python and PyTorch programming skills, with the ability to write clean, modular code for fast experimentation.
• Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to implement and adapt cutting-edge methods from recent research literature.
• Experience in autonomous research or projects related to human motion generation, robotic imitation learning, or ego-centric action prediction is preferred.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in robotics.
• Familiarity with simulation environments.
• Background in multi-modal generative models.
• Experience fine-tuning foundation models such as Gr00t or SmolVLA for generating whole-body actions or kinematic motions.
