Blockstream seeks a Junior Solutions Architect in Lugano, CH, to design blockchain solutions for financial institutions. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, cryptography, and cloud platforms, with a focus on secure, scalable architectures for banking and digital assets.
The Junior Solutions Architect supports the end-to-end design of blockchain solutions for enterprise and institutional clients, translating business needs into technical architectures. Working within the Service & Enterprise Solutions team, the role ensures alignment with best practices in distributed systems, cryptography, and financial services integration.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver blockchain-based solutions for banking, custody, payments, and treasury management applications
- Create secure, scalable architectures that integrate blockchain infrastructure with core financial systems
- Define technical blueprints including API design, data flows, event-driven systems, and integration patterns
- Make decisions on deployment models (cloud, hybrid, on-premise), consensus mechanisms, and security protocols
- Assess and choose blockchain platforms, protocols, and tools based on client needs and technical viability
- Ensure solutions meet cryptographic security, regulatory compliance, and industry standards
- Work with delivery, development, and DevOps teams to ensure architectures are implementable and maintainable
- Produce and update technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, system specs, and integration guides
- Identify and report architectural risks, technical dependencies, and performance issues
- Guide junior architects and developers on design patterns, blockchain best practices, and secure coding
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of experience in solution architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise system implementation
- Solid grasp of blockchain, distributed systems, and cryptographic principles
- Experience designing multi-system platforms in regulated financial environments
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern deployment methods
- In-depth knowledge of API-based architectures, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Strong understanding of security protocols, encryption, authentication, and authorization
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical topics to both technical and business audiences
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with experience working across teams and geographies, maintaining high-quality client engagement
- Must be fluent in Swiss German, German, and English
Nice to have
- Practical experience with blockchain platforms such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Hyperledger
- Knowledge of smart contract development and decentralized application (DApp) design
- Experience in digital asset custody, tokenization, or crypto payment systems
- Understanding of DeFi protocols, stablecoins, and Layer-2 scaling technologies
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks for digital assets (MiCA, AML/KYC, securities rules)
- Experience integrating blockchain with core banking, payments, or treasury systems
- Programming skills in Python, Go, Rust, Java, or Solidity
- Blockchain certifications (e.g., Certified Blockchain Architect, Hyperledger)
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
- Interest in advancing to Principal Architect or technical leadership positions
