Lab Development Engineer

The company seeks a Lab Development Engineer in Haag, CH, to design and improve automated testing environments within the Semiconductor R&D unit, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated system solutions.

This position sits within the R&D division of the Semiconductor Business Unit. The engineer will focus on creating, refining, and maintaining automated testing setups while working closely with design, quality, and mechatronics specialists to build cohesive system solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated testing setups for product verification and validation.
• Shape the roadmap for PLC-based systems to align with product and technology goals.
• Configure and integrate PLC control systems, selecting appropriate I/O modules, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces.
• Write PLC code for process control, motion control, and system diagnostics.
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop complex systems.
• Conduct verification and validation testing following internal standards and customer requirements.
• Produce and update technical documentation across all project stages.
• Offer expert customer support, including commissioning assistance and second-level technical help.

Requirements

• Technical qualification as an Automation Technician EFZ or equivalent.
• Advanced education in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering at HF/FH/University level.
• 5+ years of experience in software development using the TwinCAT (Beckhoff) environment with Structured Text (ST).
• Knowledge of designing electrical circuit diagrams and hardware systems.
• Fluent in English.
