Lab Operations & Materials Specialist (f/m/d)

The company seeks a Lab Operations & Materials Specialist for its Quality Control department in Bern, Switzerland, to ensure smooth microbiology lab operations and uphold quality standards.

This position supports the Quality Control department at a Swiss vaccine production site. The specialist is responsible for keeping the microbiology laboratory running efficiently while maintaining strict quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Keep the lab organized, clean, and sterile, including cleaning glassware and operating autoclaves.
• Handle laboratory waste and manage the collection, exchange, and distribution of lab coats.
• Maintain precise documentation, archiving, and filing systems.
• Manage inventory, Kanban processes, ordering based on demand, and material registration in LIMS.
• Oversee storage, labeling, and system-based removal of released, consumed, or expired materials.
• Support lab operations through water sampling, LIMS registration, and preparation of culture media for microbiological analyses.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, qualification, and calibration to ensure lab readiness.

Requirements

• Initial experience in a laboratory environment or a comparable role; experience in the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage.
• Careful, structured and reliable working style with strong attention to detail.
• Strong awareness of quality and hygiene standards.
• Excellent organizational skills and a high level of accountability.
• Team-oriented, proactive and hands-on mindset with a willingness to support diverse laboratory activities.
• Confident use of IT systems; experience with LIMS is considered a plus.
• Fluent german skills, both written and spoken; english language skills are an advantage.
