Lab Testing Specialist - Materials (d/f/m)

Michael Page is recruiting a Lab Testing Specialist for a Swiss FMCG firm in Zürich. This 6-month contract role focuses on physical materials testing, sample management, and developing automated data reporting workflows.

The company is seeking a Lab Testing Specialist to join its materials testing team on a contract basis starting in August. This position involves managing the full lifecycle of sample testing, executing physical assessments on materials and finished goods, and leveraging programming skills to automate data extraction and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Handle the complete sample workflow, from receipt and preparation to conditioning and logging.
• Perform physical tests on materials and final products using laboratory equipment according to standard procedures.
• Create and maintain automated scripts for logging samples and extracting raw data.
• Build programming-based tools to generate visualizations and datasets for reporting purposes.
• Carry out daily and weekly maintenance routines for testing machinery.
• Support the Lab Lead in scheduling and overseeing external equipment calibration.
• Ensure the laboratory environment remains orderly, clean, and safe.
• Track inventory levels of testing consumables and request restocking when necessary.

Requirements

• Solid background in physical materials testing, such as evaluating flexibility, abrasion, or durability.
• Proven ability to operate and maintain standard laboratory machinery.
• Advanced programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages for data analysis and building automated reporting workflows.
• High level of precision, attention to detail, and strict adherence to protocols.
• Capacity to work autonomously and meet tight deadlines.
