Context and why we are recruiting?

The Centre for Cybersecurity (C4C) was established by the World Economic Forum in 2018 to build a collective response to global cybersecurity challenges by leveraging the Forum's impartial public-private platform.

As emerging technologies rapidly reshape the cybersecurity landscape, the Centre is expanding its work to help organizations anticipate and respond to the opportunities and risks presented by artificial intelligence and other frontier technologies. Through its Cyber Frontiers portfolio, the Centre convenes leaders from business, government, academia and civil society to advance trusted dialogue, develop practical insights and foster collaborative action on the future of cybersecurity.

The Security and Technology Lead will lead this growing portfolio, with responsibility for the Centre's Cyber and AI Initiative while shaping the broader Cyber Frontiers agenda. The role combines strategic leadership, thought leadership and multi-stakeholder engagement to ensure cybersecurity remains a critical consideration in the development and adoption of emerging technologies.

Reporting line and how is this role embedded in the wider team?

This position will report to the Head of Strategy and Growth, Centre for Cybersecurity. The position will also have interactions with all other functions within the Centre for Cybersecurity, as well as the other functions across the World Economic Forum. This role interacts extensively both with partners and experts from the Forum’s Cybersecurity community.

What will you be responsible for?

Lead the Cyber and AI Initiative:

• Define the strategic direction, priorities and annual work programme.
• Build and convene the initiative community of senior executives and experts from partner organizations.
• Design and oversee community engagement, including workshops, working groups and events.
• Lead the development of content, publications, frameworks and other thought leadership outputs.
• Manage relationships with strategic and supporting partners.
• Coordinate project teams, including Forum employees and Fellows from partner organistions.
• Ensure close collaboration with the Forum’s Centre for AI Excellence on security and digital safety related issues.

Lead the Centre's work on cybersecurity and frontier technologies:

• Identify emerging cybersecurity challenges and opportunities arising from frontier technologies, including quantum technologies, robotics, space etc.
• Scope and develop new activities that advance the Centre's Cyber Frontiers agenda.
• Monitor developments in technology governance, and support regional and global policy engagement where relevant.
• Serve as the Centre's subject matter expert on cybersecurity and emerging technologies, contributing to Centre programming and publications, including the Global Cybersecurity Outlook.
• Collaborate across the Forum, particularly with the Centre for Frontier Technology and Innovation, to ensure cybersecurity is embedded across technology-focused initiatives.

Develop technology oriented engagement

• Monitor industry devolopment in regards to advanced technology and cybersecurity
• Identify potential Innovators, in collaboration with the Forum’s Global Innovators team.
• Engage key academics at the intersection of security and technology in the relevant initiatives

What core knowledge, skills and experience are we looking to add to our team?

Domain Knowledge and Experience

• 8–10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, emerging technologies, technology policy or a related field.
• Strong understanding of AI and cybersecurity, with knowledge of broader frontier technologies such as quantum, robotics or space considered an advantage.
• Experience leading international, multi-stakeholder initiatives involving business, government and academia.
• Track record of developing high-quality publications, executive content or strategic insights.
• Experience managing strategic partnerships and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
