Robert Walters Switzerland is seeking a Mid-level Legal Counsel for Asset Management in Zürich. The role focuses on European fund structures, Swiss regulatory compliance, and legal documentation for investment products.

The company requires a legal professional to guide the establishment, distribution, and management of investment funds throughout Europe. This position supports the legal dimensions of new product launches and cross-border distribution strategies, ensuring alignment with relevant financial regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on fund structures in Luxembourg and Ireland, specifically UCITS and AIFs.
  • Advise on Swiss regulatory requirements for asset managers, including FINMA rules, FinIA, and CISA.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents such as investment management agreements, distribution contracts, and service provider terms.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams on regulatory changes and implementation initiatives.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors and international partners as needed.
  • Track legal and regulatory updates affecting the asset management sector in Switzerland and Europe.

Requirements

  • Around six years of experience in asset management legal matters, acquired at a law firm, financial institution, or asset manager.
  • Deep understanding of European investment funds, with a focus on Luxembourg and Irish structures (UCITS and AIFs).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Swiss regulatory environment for asset managers and collective investment schemes.
  • Proven experience in advising on cross-border fund distribution and asset management regulatory issues.
  • Fluency in both English and German, written and spoken, is mandatory.

Nice to have

  • Admission to the Swiss bar or another jurisdiction is not a prerequisite for this role.
