Julius Bär seeks a Legal Counsel for its Cross-Border Wealth Management team in Zürich. The role focuses on providing legal advice for market access, product distribution, and regulatory compliance across international jurisdictions.
This position supports the Legal Wealth Management team by enabling the structuring and distribution of investment solutions. The counsel provides essential legal guidance to business units and Relationship Managers, specifically addressing cross-border market access, product development, and distribution strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on cross-border regulatory frameworks, including licensing, passporting, and local product registration rules.
- Assist the Risk Type Owner for Cross-Border activities by conducting legal analysis and contributing to risk assessments, controls, and governance structures.
- Create and update group-level policies, country-specific guidelines, and product offering rules for cross-border distribution.
- Collaborate with external legal advisors in various jurisdictions to evaluate the admissibility and compliance of international activities.
- Track legal and regulatory developments and convert them into practical steps for the business.
- Engage in strategic projects and internal committees that require specialized knowledge of private banking regulations.
- Produce clear, practical guidance and training materials tailored to the needs of various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Law.
- 4–6 years of professional experience in financial services law.
- Solid understanding of banking and financial services regulations (e.g. MiFID II, FinSA/FinIA).
- Exceptional communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Nice to have
- Admission to the bar in Switzerland or an EU country.
- Experience gained in a top-tier law firm or bank.
- German language skills.
