Julius Bär seeks a Junior Legal Counsel in Zürich to advise on financial services, wealth planning, and cross-border regulatory matters under FinSA and MiFID.
This position serves as a legal expert within the General Counsel Wealth Management division, offering strategic advice to senior management and internal stakeholders. The role operates with a global perspective, handling multijurisdictional issues related to onshore and cross-border wealth planning and financial services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal authority for financial and wealth planning service offerings.
- Evaluate and approve business-to-business contracts and agreements with external vendors and partners.
- Advise executive leadership and internal teams on project-specific legal matters.
- Track regulatory changes in Switzerland and analyze risks associated with cross-border service delivery.
- Assist legal colleagues in internal committees by supplying specialized knowledge on wealth planning.
- Participate in strategic initiatives and provide ad-hoc legal support concerning FinSA and MiFID compliance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in law, ideally from a Swiss institution, with bar admission.
- One to three years of professional experience, preferably gained at a law firm, financial institution, or consulting practice.
- Deep knowledge of Swiss banking law, contract law, and the local regulatory environment.
- Fluency in both English and German.
Nice to have
- An LL.M. degree or other advanced legal qualifications.
- Proficiency in languages beyond English and German.
