Amazon Switzerland seeks a Logistics Specialist in Zürich to manage datacenter inventory, coordinate shipments, and support AWS infrastructure operations through precise stock control and process improvement.
This position plays a key role in sustaining the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure by Amazon Web Services. The specialist ensures that datacenter locations maintain optimal stock levels to support build and repair activities. By driving continuous process improvements, the role helps the company deliver high availability while keeping costs low.
Responsibilities
- Monitor datacenter inventory, incoming shipments, and demand patterns to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Develop strategies to optimize the flow of components throughout their lifecycle, tracking location, movement, age, and turnover rates.
- Collaborate with Datacenter Operations Technicians and Engineers to ensure rapid and accurate fulfillment of parts.
- Partner with Procurement and Hardware Engineering teams to purchase new components and manage vendor interactions for RMAs and replacements.
- Ensure accuracy in data entry and address inquiries from internal peer organizations.
- Analyze data deeply to gain comprehensive insights into the datacenter asset lifecycle.
- Maintain current metrics dashboards and generate reports for internal and external suppliers as well as management.
- Perform manual tasks including assembling, addressing, stamping, and arranging shipments of merchandise and materials.
- Assist in the daily scheduling of deliveries and pickups to and from production sites.
- Unpack incoming boxes and verify contents upon receipt of shipments.
- Keep precise records of all commodities entering and leaving the company.
- Adhere to strict safety standards and maintain high levels of quality in all operations.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience in logistics, supporting inventory cycle counts, shipments, maintenance, and stock control.
- Completion of an apprenticeship in Logistics EFZ, with a specialization in warehouse operations.
- Ability to review and process tickets via internal tools for parts requests and stock replenishments.
- Experience processing access forms, method statements, and similar documentation.
- Capability to facilitate logistics and supply chain planning for remote project implementations.
- Skill in generating metrics for daily and weekly reviews.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Physical ability to lift loads up to 18kg and carry them for short distances.
- Possession of a current driving license and a personal vehicle available for work-related travel.
Nice to have
- A relevant degree in Logistics or supply chain experience within a complex data center environment.
- Experience in project management.
- Good knowledge of IT and network equipment.
- Ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and drive results.
