Manager, Underwriting Portfolio Engineering

Swiss Re seeks a Manager for Underwriting Portfolio Engineering in Zürich to build data products and analytical tools that enhance underwriting decisions using Palantir Foundry, Python, and SQL.

This position sits within the integrated Portfolio Strategy & Steering team at Swiss Re. The role focuses on applying advanced data engineering and analytical methods to refine underwriting portfolio choices. It is a practical, end-to-end delivery role covering the entire lifecycle of solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create underwriting-focused data products, analytical instruments, and workflows within Palantir.
• Convert significant underwriting portfolio inquiries into actionable analytics and reusable decision-support tools.
• Evaluate performance metrics, exposures, concentrations, dependencies, and overall portfolio dynamics.
• Build, validate, launch, and sustain sturdy solutions backed by reliable, decision-ready data.
• Collaborate with end-users during implementation and adoption phases to measure impact.
• Support shared engineering standards, reusable components, documentation, and analytical guidelines.

Requirements

• Proven experience creating data products, analytical workflows, or decision-support solutions using Palantir Foundry or similar platforms.
• Strong skills in data modeling, transformation, integration, and analysis utilizing Python, SQL, or comparable tools.
• Track record of managing solutions from initial problem definition through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
• Capacity to transform complex or ambiguous business questions into practical analytical approaches and clear outputs.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and collaborate effectively with underwriting, portfolio management, and other business stakeholders.
