Distalmotion SA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Épalinges to optimize production lines and ensure quality compliance for robotic surgery devices. This hybrid role requires strong engineering expertise and bilingual skills.

This position supports the entire product lifecycle, bridging R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure reliable and efficient manufacturing. The engineer works primarily from the Épalinges office but regularly visits supplier sites across western Switzerland to drive continuous improvement and validate processes as production volumes increase.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve production issues, equipment failures, and quality deviations through structured root-cause analysis.
  • Enhance manufacturing performance by converting data insights and analysis results into improved processes and designs.
  • Track and boost key metrics including process capability, first-pass yield, cycle time, and unit costs.
  • Create and update essential manufacturing documentation, such as process flows and pFMEAs.
  • Analyze field complaints for medical devices and participate in determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Plan and carry out process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ), test method validations, and equipment qualifications in compliance with ISO 13485 standards.
  • Advocate for manufacturability during product development to guarantee reliable and cost-effective production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or a related engineering field.
  • At least five years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or process development within the medical device sector.
  • Solid understanding of precision mechanical assembly techniques.
  • Proven experience in developing or qualifying manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing statistical tools like Minitab.
  • Fluent command of both English and French.

Nice to have

  • Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
