Coherent Switzerland AG seeks a Metrology Engineer in Zürich to manage measurement systems for semiconductor manufacturing, ensuring quality and process control through advanced metrology techniques.
This position sits within the Engineering team at the company’s primary photonics research and production facility in Zurich. The role is critical for supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing by maintaining reliable measurement systems that drive process control and ensure product quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage site metrology equipment and enhance capabilities for dimensional, structural, and materials characterization.
- Create, refine, and validate measurement methods and strategies for both ongoing manufacturing and new product introductions.
- Establish and uphold measurement methodologies, qualification procedures, and engineering standards.
- Conduct Measurement System Analysis (MSA), covering Gage R&R, repeatability, reproducibility, bias, stability, and precision-to-tolerance assessments.
- Utilize statistical methods to analyze measurement and process data, identifying trends to support data-driven process improvements.
- Track metrology equipment stability and performance metrics to guarantee robust process control.
- Partner with Lithography, Process Integration, and Process Engineering groups to define measurement strategies.
- Provide accurate measurement data to assist in troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
- Lead or assist in evaluating, qualifying, implementing, and continuously improving new metrology technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Microtechnology, Semiconductor Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Two to five years of experience with semiconductor metrology techniques for dimensional, structural, or materials characterization.
- Fluent proficiency in English.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working in a semiconductor cleanroom or manufacturing setting.
- Basic knowledge of the German language.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, process development, or new product introductions, including the qualification of new metrology technologies.
