MSD Switzerland seeks a Principal Scientist for Clinical Research in Zürich to lead global late-stage oncology trials within the European Clinical Development team.

This position sits within the European Clinical Development team of the Global Clinical Development group. The primary purpose is to drive innovation and execution excellence, translating breakthrough science into new medicines by managing global late-stage clinical trials in Oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Assess pre-clinical and translational data to create early clinical development plans and Investigational New Drug applications.
  • Formulate clinical development strategies for both investigational and marketed Oncology products.
  • Design and plan clinical trials, including operational strategies and settings, aligned with development goals.
  • Oversee and manage the execution of ongoing or new clinical trials for Oncology drugs.
  • Analyze and summarize clinical data to inform decisions on safety, efficacy, regulatory submissions, and publications.
  • Supervise Clinical Scientists in the execution of clinical studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional experts in commercialization, regulatory affairs, statistics, and manufacturing.
  • Establish and maintain communication with key clinical investigators.

Requirements

  • M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
  • Professional experience in industry or academia.
  • A demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
  • A proven track record in clinical medicine and a background in biomedical research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Board certification in Oncology and/or Hematology.
  • Prior specific experience in clinical research and a history of publications.
  • Experience in hematology/oncology clinical development within the pharmaceutical industry.
