This senior leadership position is tasked with defining and executing the preclinical biology and pharmacology strategy for new compounds. The role serves as a key driver for the company’s vision to replace traditional cigarettes with alternative products, operating within a supportive environment of expert scientists and advanced technology. Responsibilities
- Develop tailored strategies and operational plans for generating biology and pharmacology evidence.
- Lead cross-functional teams, including external contracted research organizations, to implement and execute research programs effectively.
- Draft and present scientific and operational proposals to cross-functional governance forums for approval.
- Monitor and report on program progress, budget adherence, and potential risks, proposing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Create science-based communications regarding research findings to inform internal business decisions and support external scientific engagement.
- Collaborate with internal partners at various organizational levels and engage with external scientific experts.
- Maintain deep scientific knowledge to inform innovative strategies and provide insights to other research areas.
Requirements
- PhD and post-doctoral fellowship in Pharmacology or Biological Sciences.
- At least 10 years of experience in non-clinical or translational research, such as preclinical pharmacology, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, or early clinical development.
- Proven track record of advancing research programs to critical decision points and achieving evidence-based product outcomes.
- Expertise spanning multiple health domains, including neuroscience, pulmonary health, cardiovascular health, and oral health.
- Strong business acumen derived from industry leadership roles involving both scientific and operational management.
- Demonstrated scientific and operational leadership, critical thinking, strategic mindset, result-orientation, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Innovative and creative approach to research challenges.
- Excellent engagement, influencing, and communication abilities.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
