Risk & Performance Specialist

Bank J Safra Sarasin seeks a Risk & Performance Specialist in Basel to analyze risk and performance metrics for asset management strategies, providing insights to stakeholders.

This position sits within the Analytics & Business Solutions team, where the primary focus is on identifying, measuring, and reporting risk and performance data for various asset classes. The specialist delivers critical analysis and recommendations to internal teams, such as portfolio managers, as well as senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent pre-trade and post-trade risk assessments for equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative investment strategies.
• Track portfolio risk metrics, including Value at Risk (VaR), tracking error, factor exposures, concentration limits, and liquidity risks.
• Generate performance attribution and contribution analyses to evaluate investment outcomes.
• Work closely with portfolio management, investment compliance, and operations teams to maintain data accuracy and ensure timely reporting.
• Support the continuous improvement of risk and performance measurement tools, methodologies, and infrastructure.

Requirements

• A university degree or equivalent higher education in Finance or a related field.
• At least five years of hands-on experience in risk management, performance analysis, or investment products.
• Proficiency with Bloomberg PORT Enterprise (or comparable platforms), Bloomberg terminals, Morningstar Direct, and the MSCI risk suite.
• Strong technical skills in Python and SQL.
• Fluent command of the English language.

Nice to have

• Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, CAIA, or CIPM are considered advantageous.
• Fluency in German is a beneficial additional skill.
