EFG International seeks a PB Support Specialist in Geneva to manage risk and compliance for private banking clients, ensuring robust controls and supporting relationship officers.

This position is central to the private banking risk and control framework, serving as a strategic partner to Client Relationship Officers and senior leadership. The specialist provides independent oversight, practical advice, and clear guidance on complex or high-risk scenarios. By strengthening the first line of defense, the role fosters a culture of disciplined risk management and ensures that business activities align with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Client Relationship Officers in spotting, handling, and reducing risks arising from daily operations.
  • Align control activities with the Global Private Banking Control Blueprint and local regulatory mandates.
  • Conduct due diligence checks on both new and existing client relationships.
  • Authorize fund and securities transfers, credit approvals, overrides, and transactions flagged for sanctions sensitivity.
  • Share market insights and best practices with Client Relationship Officers, Client Service Officers, and Account Managers.
  • Establish trusted partnerships with Senior Management and Client Relationship Officers.
  • Act as deputy to the Head of Private Banking Support, reviewing intricate cases and presenting findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Client Relationship Officers regarding complex and high-risk matters.
  • Function as the Single Point of Contact for First Line of Defense regarding Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) classification and declassification.
  • Ensure timely resolution and remediation of outstanding follow-ups related to client lifecycle processes.
  • Approve new accounts for clients and business introducers, while overseeing the full KYC lifecycle and periodic reviews.
  • Bridge communication between the First Line of Defense and Second Line of Defense, ensuring clear escalation paths.
  • Review account openings, Customer Identification Program (CIP) modifications, and periodic reviews for the Dubai Private Banking Service team, offering necessary guidance.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in Compliance or Audit, specifically involving account openings, reviews, and transaction monitoring.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate potentially contentious situations effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of French.
  • Working knowledge of German.
