Safety & Environment Engineer - Geneva

OM Pharma seeks a Safety & Environment Engineer in Meyrin to lead site safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong safety culture within its biotech production facility.

Based at the global headquarters and biotech production site in Meyrin, this position reports directly to the Head of Engineering & Technical Projects. The role blends strategic leadership with hands-on operational duties to continuously improve the site's Safety and Environment programs.

Responsibilities

• Implement and advance the site’s Safety and Environment strategy, guaranteeing adherence to internal policies, legal mandates, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
• Strengthen prevention initiatives by cultivating a robust safety culture and assisting managers in meeting their safety obligations.
• Perform safety and environmental inspections, manage internal and external audits, and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies.
• Track regulatory changes, evaluate their operational impact, and execute necessary compliance measures.
• Chair Safety & Environment Committees, align action plans, and monitor progress using key performance indicators.
• Design and deliver training sessions to boost employee awareness and engagement regarding safety and environmental issues.
• Analyze incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and apply corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee safety and environmental considerations in engineering projects and support emergency preparedness efforts.
• Create and sustain communication campaigns, including newsletters and digital content, to promote safety awareness.
• Maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, professional networks, service providers, and local authorities to ensure best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• Mandatory certification as a Safety Officer or Safety Engineer per the CFST Directive or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in Safety & Environment management within a manufacturing or process-driven industrial setting.
• Deep understanding of environmental and occupational safety regulations, with specific expertise in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Native-level French proficiency and strong written and spoken English skills.
