Safety & Environment Engineer

OM Pharma seeks a Mid-level Safety & Environment Engineer in Meyrin to lead site safety strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage prevention programs within a global biopharmaceutical setting.

The company is looking for a professional to direct the site's overall safety and environmental approach. This role involves managing ongoing prevention initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to legal and corporate standards, and fostering a proactive safety culture among staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Direct the implementation of the site’s safety and environmental strategy.
• Oversee and enhance continuous improvement efforts for prevention programs.
• Guarantee alignment with internal policies, legal mandates, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
• Cultivate a robust safety mindset throughout the organization and assist managers in this effort.
• Perform safety and environmental inspections while coordinating internal and external audits.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies.
• Track regulatory changes and evaluate their effect on site operations.
• Ensure that all necessary compliance measures are put into practice.
• Arrange and lead Safety & Environment Committee meetings.
• Manage action plans and monitor progress using key performance indicators.
• Design, coordinate, and deliver training sessions.
• Drive employee engagement and awareness regarding safety and environmental issues.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify root causes.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks.
• Integrate safety and environmental considerations into engineering projects.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Create and maintain communication initiatives related to safety and environment.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, professional networks, service providers, and local authorities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• Mandatory certification as a Safety Officer or Safety Engineer per CFST Directive or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• 3-5 years of experience in safety and environment management within manufacturing or process-oriented industrial settings.
• Deep understanding of environmental and occupational safety regulations and management systems, especially ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting safety and environmental audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
• Native or fully fluent proficiency in French.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
