The Security Certification Specialist at Id Quantique leads certification efforts for quantum key distribution systems across multiple international frameworks, ensuring compliance and supporting the company's mission in advanced quantum technologies.
This position sits within the Science Department at Id Quantique, where the primary objective is to drive and manage security certification processes for both existing and upcoming quantum key distribution (QKD) products. The role is central to maintaining the company's high-assurance standards and advancing its work in sophisticated quantum technologies.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee security certification activities across various international frameworks, including Common Criteria, EUCC, Japan EAL2, and FIPS.
- Create, update, and manage Security Targets for Id Quantique's product portfolio.
- Perform gap analyses to pinpoint necessary system modifications and work with Engineering and R&D teams to implement remediation steps.
- Compile and keep certification evidence up to date, covering architecture documentation, vulnerability assessments, lifecycle artifacts, and configuration management records.
- Oversee interactions with external evaluation laboratories, address feedback from evaluations, and ensure certification documentation meets high-quality standards.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration, track developments in international certification schemes, and contribute to secure development practices and internal training initiatives.
- Provide market teams with support on certification claims, compliance materials, and customer-facing positioning.
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in security certification frameworks, with a strong focus on Common Criteria.
- Deep understanding of quantum key distribution and key management systems (KMS).
- Ability to interpret technical designs, prepare certification evidence, and manage certification activities end-to-end.
- Proven experience in Common Criteria evaluations (EAL2–EAL4+ preferred) and FIPS.
- Strong track record in developing or supporting Security Targets and high-assurance documentation.
- Solid technical understanding of QKD systems, key management system architectures, photonics components, and cybersecurity principles.
- Knowledge of QKD attack vectors and countermeasures and how these translate into certification requirements.
- Comfortable working across international frameworks including EUCC, the Cyber Resilient Act, ISO 15408/18045, CCRA, and FIPS 140-3.
- Experienced in collaborating with evaluation laboratories and certification authorities.
- Experience in secure development lifecycles, configuration management, and vulnerability handling.
- Excellent communication skills and a structured, rigorous, and proactive approach to security assurance.
