Senior Backup Engineer

J. Safra Sarasin seeks a Senior Backup Engineer to manage enterprise backup systems, ensure disaster recovery readiness, and support infrastructure evolution in an onsite role based in Switzerland.

The company is looking for a specialist to oversee the administration and monitoring of its enterprise backup environment. This position ensures that critical systems receive reliable, high-quality service through robust backup and restore operations.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily operational tasks related to backup and data restoration.
• Work with the team to design and carry out disaster recovery drills.
• Develop and deploy monitoring tools and automation scripts for backup workflows.
• Contribute to the architectural design and modernization of backup infrastructure, including legacy system migrations.
• Provide general infrastructure support and participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• A university degree or equivalent higher education in Computer Science.
• Three to five years of hands-on experience managing enterprise backup solutions.
• Solid understanding of SAN storage technologies, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
• Proven ability to execute data recovery exercises and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans.
• Fluent proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Red Hat Linux and other UNIX-based operating systems.
• A strong interest in process automation.
• Certifications in ITIL or TOGAF.
• Additional language skills in German or French.
