Senior Backup Engineer

Bank J Safra Sarasin seeks a Senior Backup Engineer in Basel to manage enterprise backup systems, ensure disaster recovery readiness, and support infrastructure stability.

The company is looking for a specialist to oversee the administration and continuous monitoring of its enterprise backup environment. This role ensures that critical systems receive reliable service through robust backup and restore operations, while also contributing to the evolution of the underlying infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily operational tasks related to backup and data restoration.
• Work with the team to plan and carry out disaster recovery simulations.
• Develop and deploy automated solutions and monitoring tools for backup processes.
• Contribute to the design and modernization of backup infrastructure, including managing legacy systems and migration efforts.
• Provide general infrastructure support and participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• A university degree or equivalent higher education in Computer Science.
• Three to five years of hands-on experience in backup engineering and managing enterprise backup platforms.
• Solid understanding of SAN storage technologies, as well as Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Proven ability to execute data recovery exercises and maintain Disaster Recovery Plans.
• Fluent command of the English language.

Nice to have

• Experience with Red Hat Linux and other UNIX-based operating systems.
• A strong interest in and aptitude for automation.
• Certifications in ITIL or TOGAF.
• Additional language skills in German or French.
