Mathrix in Zug, CH, seeks a Senior C/C++ Low Latency Engineer for a full-time onsite role. The position involves developing and optimizing high-performance trading systems with a focus on low latency, within a small, hands-on technology team.

This role is central to Mathrix’s operations, supporting the company’s performance through high-efficiency data processing pipelines. In a small, flat-structured team, the engineer will have broad responsibilities and direct impact, working across hardware, networking, and data systems to ensure speed and quality. Responsibilities

  • Build, test, monitor, and maintain large-scale parallel applications and databases.
  • Develop code to enable automated trading on global exchanges.
  • Optimize software for minimal latency.
  • Create low-latency networking code for fast exchange communication.
  • Design and implement code that avoids context switches.
  • Create custom data storage structures with minimal memory footprint.
  • Develop data pipelines using streaming architecture.
  • Implement trading logic with minimal computational overhead.
  • Re-implement existing code using CPU SIMD features for performance gains.
  • Build and maintain global hardware infrastructure for trading operations.

Requirements

  • Deep and comprehensive knowledge of C and C++ on Linux systems.
  • Ability to understand and verify the assembly output generated by the compiler.
  • Understanding of GNU/Linux system calls and their performance implications.
  • Familiarity with x64 hardware and efficient utilization techniques.
  • Knowledge of selecting or designing storage structures based on time complexity needs.
  • Proficiency with debuggers and profilers for performance analysis.
  • Experience with version control (git) and technical documentation.
  • Ability to share knowledge with and learn from the team.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, honest, flexible, and resilient under pressure.

Nice to have

  • Experience in network engineering, including low-latency hardware deployment or protocol implementation.
  • Background in Big Data engineering and familiarity with best practices for different use cases.
