Senior Counsel / Senior Investment Fund Lawyer

Partners Group seeks a Senior Counsel to lead fund formation efforts for its private markets team in Zug, focusing on global investor offerings.

This senior position sits within the private markets structuring team based in Zug, Switzerland. The role centers on supporting fund formation activities for a worldwide investor base, requiring expertise in legal structuring and documentation for private market products.

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and manage global legal templates and documentation standards for fund formation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents for live fund and separate account transactions.
• Mentor, supervise, and develop junior lawyers in drafting, negotiation, and transaction execution.
• Govern and maintain precedents, playbooks, and standard documentation frameworks.
• Produce legal agreements directly and oversee the work of external counsel.
• Provide advice on the legal structuring and formation of private market products.
• Identify and coordinate cross-border legal and regulatory challenges for global offerings.
• Collaborate with internal teams including legal, tax, compliance, operations, and investment.
• Manage external legal providers across different jurisdictions to ensure high-quality output.
• Drive the standardization and continuous improvement of legal terms and processes.
• Communicate complex legal and structuring matters clearly to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a senior lawyer specializing in investment funds.
• Ability to advise on fund formation matters within an international context.
• Skill in identifying, managing, and coordinating legal and regulatory issues for globally offered products.
