Michael Page is recruiting a Legal Counsel for ESG and Regulatory Affairs for a fixed-term, on-site role in Zug. The position supports a leading international industrial client on sustainability, compliance, and commercial legal matters.

This is a fixed-term assignment lasting approximately one year, covering a maternity leave. The successful candidate will join a leading international organization operating within a highly regulated industrial sector, providing critical legal support across ESG and regulatory domains.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on sustainability, health and safety, human rights, and responsible business practices.
  • Assist with regulatory compliance efforts and manage legal risks.
  • Track European legislative changes and evaluate their impact on business operations.
  • Prepare, examine, and negotiate various commercial contracts.
  • Offer legal counsel on employment law issues, including contracts and labor relations.
  • Collaborate with corporate affairs and communications teams on legal and reputation-related matters.
  • Help stakeholders with policy creation, governance structures, and implementation projects.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver practical legal solutions aligned with business goals.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with bar admission preferred; an LL.M. or equivalent qualification is also valued.
  • Between three and five years of post-qualification experience in private practice or in-house legal roles.
  • Fluent English skills and professional proficiency in either German or French.
  • Strong capabilities in analysis, drafting, and negotiation.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, international setting.
  • Collaborative approach with a pragmatic, commercially minded attitude.

Nice to have

  • Experience in areas such as sustainability, HSE, human rights, employment law, commercial contracts, or regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage.
  • Background in industrial, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other regulated industries.
  • Interest in using technology and AI tools to enhance efficiency.
