Senior Data Scientist role at NZZ in Zurich, focusing on ML lifecycle management and data product development for growth and marketing initiatives. Hybrid work with flexible hours.
This position sits within the Growth Tribe, a technology unit, where the role is responsible for driving data-driven innovation and managing the full lifecycle of machine learning solutions and data products.
Responsibilities
- Create and launch new data products aimed at refining audience segmentation and improving commercial funnels and user experiences.
- Manage the complete model lifecycle, covering ideation, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Collaborate closely with the Growth Tribe and Marketing teams to convert business objectives into data-driven solutions.
- Conduct complex analyses and prepare professional presentations of findings.
- Champion best practices in data science, emphasizing code quality, experimentation, and reproducibility.
- Implement and promote modern standards for code quality, version control, reproducibility, and agile project methods like Kanban or Scrum.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data science, with strong theoretical and practical knowledge in statistics and machine learning (predictive and prescriptive).
- Deep understanding of experimental design, A/B testing, and data-driven decision-making.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Vertex AI.
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Good communication skills in English and German (at least level B).
Nice to have
- Experience with and understanding of the user journey and commercial funnels; experience with paywall and subscription models is desirable
