Inautalent in Martigny, CH, seeks a Senior Experimental Physicist to lead hands-on research in advanced physics, focusing on resonant electronic systems, cold plasma, and energy collection devices. The role requires a Ph.D. in Physics or related field, 7+ years of lab experience, and expertise in analog electronics and RF measurements.
This role involves leading experimental research in an advanced physics lab, translating theoretical concepts into physical systems through precise instrumentation and iterative testing. The focus is on designing and analyzing experiments with resonant analog circuits, RF systems, cold plasma, and magnet-coil energy devices to advance space research technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and run experiments using analog resonant circuits, RF LCR systems, spinning cold plasma, and rotating magnet-coil setups for energy harvesting.
- Carry out detailed electrical and electromagnetic measurements using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power supplies, LCR meters, and power meters.
- Process and interpret experimental data, identify anomalies, and refine experimental setups based on findings.
- Maintain a safe, organized lab environment with proper documentation and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Work with engineers and junior researchers, offering technical guidance and promoting interdisciplinary teamwork.
- Help improve experimental methods and support the development of practical applications from research outcomes.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of direct experimental lab experience.
- Proven expertise in experimental physics with analog electronics, RF/microwave measurements, or electromechanical systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical and electronic lab instruments.
- Ability to derive scientific conclusions from raw experimental data.
- Capacity to work independently on complex projects within a small, collaborative team.
- Fluency in English is required.

- Experience with resonant analog circuits or high-Q RF systems.
- Background in cold plasma generation or electromagnetic field interaction experiments.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools like MATLAB, Python (NumPy/SciPy), or LabVIEW.
