The Experimental Quantum Engineering group at ETH Zurich works on hybrid quantum systems combining individually controlled atoms with atomic ensembles. The project aims to enable reconfigurable quantum control, fast state detection, and exploration of quantum dynamics, supporting progress toward fault-tolerant quantum computing and fundamental quantum information research.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, and run advanced neutral-atom experiments
• Implement and test new quantum control and measurement techniques
• Lead research initiatives and guide students in the lab
• Work with researchers at ETH Zurich, PSI, and global collaborators

Requirements

• PhD in physics or a related scientific field
• Solid experience in experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics or quantum optics
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Strong English communication skills

Nice to have

• Prior experience with cold atoms, optical tweezers, lasers, or quantum control methods
• German language proficiency
