Bühler seeks a Senior PLC Software Development Engineer in Uzwil to design automation and software solutions for advanced machine control systems within its Value Nutrition business area.

The company is looking for a professional to join its R&D team in the Business Area Value Nutrition. The position focuses on creating reliable, high-performance automation and software tools that help customers achieve superior process and product quality. The role blends traditional PLC programming with modern software development practices and requires close interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy PLC software for machine control systems, with a primary focus on Siemens automation platforms.
  • Build and maintain visualization tools, including C# backend services and Angular-based frontend applications.
  • Evaluate technical specifications and convert them into robust automation and software solutions that meet engineering standards.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, process, and project teams, including regular coordination with the development team in China.
  • Provide third-level support, troubleshoot issues, and assist with machine commissioning and optimization, both remotely and on-site as needed.

Requirements

  • A degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a similar technical discipline, preferably from a University of Applied Sciences or ETH.
  • Proven experience in industrial automation, including strong skills in PLC programming, machine control software, and relevant automation standards.
  • Proficiency in C# backend development and familiarity with frontend technologies such as Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Solid grasp of software engineering principles, including modular design, testing, version control, and documentation, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary teamwork, with very good English proficiency and good German language skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time per year.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Rockwell automation platforms is considered an advantage.
  • Interest or background in data science, data analytics, and machine learning methods for industrial applications.
